on the farm i work on. i have a 250 amp three phase arc welder to use. i was making a muck fork attachment for the loader the other day and the welder stopped. basically the alloy wire off the transformer that goes to the stick holder had melted off. there were blobs of alloy sitting in the bottom of the machine.
I had done alot of welding that day and was using 5mm rods. But my question is, is there something wrong with the machine, or did it just get used for too long.(being a cheaper alloy transformer). it didnt thermally overload, and the duty cycle is pretty good. so i cant work out what went wrong. any help is much appreciated.
