Lucky some of them didn't go missing more like. Or land on someone's foot!Lucky your offcuts weren't damaged!
Reminds me of the time I shipped a complete hot rod front beam axle from the USA as check in baggage. I wrapped and taped it in cardboard so it was bomb proof, but the airport security in the US cut it all open to check it wasn't full of guns, weapons, whatever, then folded the cardboard back together with 4 small strips of their special 'this package has been opened by airport security' tape
Pretty sure he was implying the senders poor packaging gives courier's a bad nameAnd somehow it’s the couriers fault?

That was your fault for not putting it in a crate They have a serious job to do and I suppose it's not made easier by people trying to smuggle. It's a wonder it got under the weight limits.

Amazingly, it actually arrived on the carousel in Manila airport as a piece of cardboard laid flat with all the bits and pieces, springs, shackles, axle etc sat on it. Bit of a job getting it all off in one pass too.
They always say never to judge a country by its airport and immigration staff..........
I'm always impressed when my toolbox goes through additional security with all the gear in it, and arrives at the other end, still with all the gear in it - don't think I've ever been asked to open it. Some of the stuff on X-ray must look pretty worrying!Reminds me of the time I shipped a complete hot rod front beam axle from the USA as check in baggage. Thanks for the nice complimentsWell here is a good story...
I booked an engine on with @fizzy to go to Darwen. I used one of the many pallets I had when the paving blocks were delivered and made a good job of strapping it down. The online form was done 09:30 and I was surprised and cynical to see a collection booked the same day (Wednesday).
When the truck arrived as appointed, he had an electric pallet truck but it wouldn't actually go into the pallet, because the pallet was non standard in some way. At that point I expected him to walk away, but no... Three of us heaved it onto his pallet truck and he deposited it on his van with a little manoeuvring. I did wonder how it would do the rest of its journey, but then on Friday morning, I got an email from Car Clinic...
Hello Andy.
Your engine has arrived.
They have put your pallet on top of a standard pallet.
I don't know if the two pallets are fastened together as we haven't removed the engine yet.
When we send it back we will screw the two pallets together if necessary
Thank You, Martin.
Not a jobsworth anywhere down the line, I'm much impressed.
No read it again! And somehow it’s the couriers fault?
I remember watching a programme about Lagos airport in Nigeria.Reminds me of the time I shipped a complete hot rod front beam axle from the USA as check in baggage. I bought a pair of cheap bathroom scales in Houston, and carefully weighing and packed the various parts into two packs of permitted weight. That was your fault for not putting it in a crate They have a serious job to do and I suppose it's not made easier by people trying to smuggle. It's a wonder it got under the weight limits.
Car engines and gearboxes etc being carried as hand luggage - just chucked on not even wrapped
I went through airport security last year, put my keys and mobile etc on a tray to go through the x-ray machine while chatting to a nice lady, I walked through the "people scanner" gate no problems or alarms, then one of the guards noticed one of my pockets wasn't empty. I was as surprised as him to find my pocketful of loose change hadn't set off any alarms - my fault for being so easiliy distractedI'm always impressed when my toolbox goes through additional security with all the gear in it, and arrives at the other end, still with all the gear in it - don't think I've ever been asked to open it. Actually, thinking about it, impressed might not be the right word . . . "worried" might be better . . . if mine doesn't get opened . . .
A few years ago I got the "parcel will be delivered on X date" when I wouldn't be in, one of the options was to download the company app and redirect it to a local collection point which turned out to be Halfords less than a mile away, it all worked fine and I collected my parcel, the only problem was it now defaulted all future parcels to Halfords for collection, I ended up having to remove the app to reset my delivery address.I’m waiting for a delivery from DPD, email says it’s coming today, Wednesday... I shall be out, so I used their link to ‘select a safe place’.
I picked a place, clicked confirm, and it tells me “Your parcel will now be delivered to your safe place, on Thursday’
Whats the use of that? I shall be home all day Thursday?!
