Last weekend I moved the trailer lights off the gate and back on the sides of the trailer.
Rolled it back against the fence and a branch cracked one of them. Had spare lens. Fixed it, rolled it back but was not perfectly perpendicular to fence. Yup, busted the other one. Those cheap lights are just to fragile. Would not be bad if the auto parts store carried spare lenses, only fix is to buy whole set of lights + wires.
Also found them broken as people walk by and bump them.
So, fed up with the cheap plastic trailer lights (I'm on my 3rd set,.) I searched for something better. I found some flush-mount RV 2-bulb lights at $10 each. Ordered two then found the both inside lights are wired together. Also found that 2 would work great vertically, so ordered 2 more. Here is one side almost done:
1.5" x 1/8" angle iron frame welded together. The lenses are recessed; should be no way to break them. The lights themselves are of a strong flexible plastic touted as unbreakable.
Should no longer have to fix these damn things!
Have side marker lights coming in and a license plate light.
