How do you guys like the Hobart Handler 125? I'm totally new to welding, I've looked at the tuturial and hope it helps me. I need to get some metal scrap to practice on. I tried welding on a basketball goal today but did not do too well.
I have a few questions and I hope they don't seem stupid.
1) Is the welder ready to weld as soon as it's plugged in and turned on or do I need to let it run for a few minutes to build up?
2)Today several times I burned or broke off the wire, so I would press the trigger to feed more wire out, but I was not touching metal or arching anything, when I press the trigger in this manner does it take power from the welder as if it were laying down a bead?
