I've never had the need to paint anything metal until now and I'm after a reasonably durable paint that I can apply directly by hand (brush or small roller) to a frame I've fabricated from box section. It'll be going underneath a laminated pine top that I glued together last year; did want to make a Paul Sellers style woodwork bench but this will now be more general purpose, not for welding.
Ideally I'd like to be able to pick something up at Screwfix or B&Q but all I've gathered from looking here is that Hammerite would not be recommended!
The box section has all been cleaned with a flap disc so it is down to the base metal.
Would something like this be appropriate..?
