Hi all, I am considering buying a welding machine for the first time and could do with some advice. I'm very handy with most things and pretty much able to try my hand with almost anything, often with good results (apart from plastering)
My missus is about to start a business dog walking and needs a cage building for a Mercedes Vito. I've a few months before she starts so plenty of time to practice. But basically need to build 6 cages in the back, 4 accessible through the back doors and 2 through the side. Basically a big L shape removable cage unit with doors on each end for safety.
Looking to use 12 gauge 1" wire galvanised panels with long supporting steels with a 90 degree angle, around 10mm wide for the frame. Firstly any suggestions on this? This is a preliminary assessment, for which I need a bit more research.
Secondly, if cost conscious, what sort of welding is best and easiest, I am told mig is the most ideal with gas. And what size mig would I be looking at?
The gas doesn't seem to last two minutes either from what I've read with the disposables lasting minutes?? So presume I need to get a decent sized cylinder.
Thanks and sorry for all the questions
Tim
