Dear All,
I have long come to the forum and the website here to view the advice and guidance as i have started welding but this is the first time i have posted as i am doing a-lot more welding than i was and i think i know I am going to have a-lot of questions to to put out there !
So i used to weld in a workshop while studying which had a Nice setup of Mig and Tig welders all ready to go but since moving back home to do some projects with my family i have found myself having to cobble together my own setup on a very very tight budget. A friend Gave me and old SIP migmate (i know notoriously bad) but after following some tutorials on here with a few modifications i have got that working pretty well and got a nice shiny new refillable gas bottle from a great supplier near me.
Now the other day i went on a punt for a really cheap Pallet of Welding gear being chucked out by the Navy in Plymouth. I wanted a Stick and Tig welder and this Pallet had one of each, a plasma cutter, a TRW nelson stud welder and a fume eliminator all for an undisclosed low amount which meant if none of it worked i wouldn't be too sad.
Anyway so far i have stuck plugs on the Migatronic Pilot 2400 Stick welder and this L-tec 252 DC Tig/stick machine with foot pedal and they both seem to power up without to much fuss ! Although the L-tec seems to not adjust amps accurately relating to the dials, this could be me just not having the read out on the right setting. I have a new electrode holder and some 6013 electrodes coming to test both out. The Migatronic has great manual so im happy to go along with that but i cant find anything relating to the L-tec machine, most of the dials are self explanatory but not all i understand, i would love a manual. I know the L-tec History is odd and ESAB purchased the brand some years ago and see similarities in the deisgn of some esab machines but have not found an exact match. Any one got any ideas about manuals which might be for this machine or something very similar ? Im also looking for advice on what Torch to get, i have been looking at some cheap ones on ebay but want to be sure that i only need to connect gas and power leaving the switch plug unplugged if i am happy to use the foot pedal.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated and i hope that one-day i will be able to offer some good advice back.
I hope some pictures of the welder are below along with the strange stud welder power unit and the hanging stair I am currently working on.
