No I like the gut hook personally as long as it is the correct shape and sharp Perhaps my dressing skills are not to a professional standard but I find it useful for all sorts of little trimming and cutting jobs, not just the stomach....... More practice required in season methinks??????
Honestly a waste of time and difficult to sharpen . Can't even imagine using one in a rabbit though I likely have done 100 or so deer with them when they first came out .Consider a gut hook within the design, a real time saver on deer and rabbits....
Honestly cad is not where it's at . I start with scale drawings on the board. I then paste that ( literally paste with prit stick to some good card ( cerial packets work at a push ). Cut it out with a suitable knife and actually hold it, does it index well ? Is the handle right ? Etc.Yep me too. I'm working on my next one. Not as well developed as yours...
Need to find some 3 inch wide 6mm stock.

Or you could call it Khann The Londoner.I decline to answer on the grounds that I may tend to incriminate myself.
I call it "the Brexiter". I'm sure I'll find a use for it.
What with an old fashioned pencil and paper. Come on grandad...
In truth though I use sketchup because I can and because I can make it to scale AND more importantly see if it will fit any "found" materials or god forbid, I actually have to buy something. That's why the sketch up there has a couple of odd looking rectangles, they're either scraps or common sizes for available steel stock. I even have a model of @hotponyshoes rasps somewhere. No good me knocking up a design and it wastes too much material. I'm just editing it now to see if I can get two out of a wider length of stock.
PS another reason I use Sketchup is I can steal a design off the internet copy it into Sketchup and work out all the dimensions. All the hard work of dimensioning and balance have been done for me and I can see a review by Skallagrim before I even make it!
