Thought i'd the right thing and say hello here before going further,
i'm Gary Layton, i have the same username on a couple of other car forums,
the only person i recognise on here so far is 'langy', hi Steve!
hopefully i can learn and contribute here also.
been messing about modifying old cars since the late 70s and soon realised i needed to learn welding,
starting by learning to arc weld on my mums balcony
swiftly moved on to one of the 'new' SIP 100amp minimigs which opened up a new world of making and modifying,
currently own an arcos-lincoln minimig 180c,
brilliant machine, had it since 1985,
had a few tigs which is what i do mostly now,
first a scratch start to cut my teeth on,
had an ac/dc cebora tigstar 16p for 15 years, once again a trouble free machine,
only gripes about it was it was a bit under powered and too heavy to be portable,
current tig which i've about a year now is an r-tech ac/dc tig 201 which seems a fairly good machine for the price.
most of what i do is car related, some hotrod stuff but mostly performance streetmachine and drag race stuff,
heres a car i built last year, and typical of what i normally do,
all the tube used in the chassis is lightweight chromemoly,
for those that dont understand this stuff,
this is a street legal road car.
