New computer chair project

Ha ha all I can say is I hope it doesn't need taking up stairs lol. It's gonna take two of yas to carry it.

It is already up stairs, just hope it doesn't end up down stair, the quick way

The chair weighs at least twice as much as the frame and I am wondering if the casters will stand up, if not then I have another job

You may have to add some more weight to the base to make it stable

Well the chair is under my bulk now and feels great. The small power supply is struggling and have to assist it but I should have a bigger one at the workshop
Taper fitted great and it is much more stable than the previous chair which wobbled a bit and it wasn't a cheapo either.


My plan is to tidy up the sides with some nice Alu or stainless plates to hide the steel box frame but knowing me it will never get done

I wish to take a seat from an Impreza or Evo and modify it so I can use it in my living room as my new computer chair.

Now I need to find a good scrapper in the Range of Bolton/Rochdale area and also I have no clue how much this will cost, although I will just save to pay for it.

I understand this project will be rather expensive than just buying a normal chair but it's something I have been after doing for a while.

Now does anyone know any good breakers as a good google for local ones only brought up two both of which seem unable to provide up to date phone numbers

Not wishing to **** on your parade, but….

Owner of a haulier I do work for now and again decided he wanted a Scania drivers seat as his office chair. New seat and bottom of new office seat were grafted together by me.

He is happy. Everyone said it looked cool. Nearly everyone- I thought it looked sh1t, but not my chair

Fast forward 9 months and the whole thing is on racking in the warehouse. He’s been off occasionally for lower back and leg pain over the last couple of months. Can’t drive a lorry (Scania, ironically)).

Turns out it’s the seat ergonomics. Who’d a thunk it you know, office seats being designed for offices and truck seats designed for, well, trucks!!

Not saying don’t do it, but if you’re spending an amount of time in it, then maybe adapt the seat somehow? So it looks like a Scooby seat but is an office seat in drag?? Dunno. But you don’t need leg and back trouble over it.

@Hood how did yours turn out long term? Might just be in the choice of seat - some just work better than others for this…..
