First post. Don't currently own a weld and never tried before but am keen to buy a MIG machine and start learning.
Am already a hobbyist wood worker and want to learn to weld so I can make some steel frames for the timber table tops I make .
Good move to come on here before buying, lots of advice from people who know. Mig is the easiest to get started with and table frames, if in tube, suit Mig. If heavier sections, i.e. more than 3/4mm, then stick welding might be more economic as the machines are cheaper and you don't need gas.
(just realised that sounds as if I include myself in the 'people who know'. I do have a bit of experience, but nothing like the pros on here.)
