Hey guys,
I'm welding upside down or on my side trying to repair my car and I'm looking for feedback on settings etc particularly as my tacks tend to suffer from gravity and try to drop some times.
There are \no magic settings, if your weld is to hot turn down the wire speed and voltage if required or speed up on travel or reduce the on time for tacks or spots. Every person is different and so are the welding machines.
I'm no expert where MIG is concerned but some of those tacks do look a bit on the large side which could make them more prone to gravity. Perhaps practice laying down small tacks in the flat position on some scrap and then switch to the same working overhead?
Good cored wires have proper flux contents that speed up the solidification of molten steel so they will not drop from gravity, so this problem is improved.
Of course adjusting the welding parameters can help to some extent.
