need some spring steel

i am making a pigeon magnet for my other hobby. i need either round or square section. 5/16ths or 10mm i think are the measurements., well 10mm. i have tried all my steel suppliers i normally use at work but they recommended going to a springmaker or stockist.
anyone know anywhere near chesterfield/sheffield area or does anyone have any going spare. plus does anyone know approximate prices etc

iv'e been trying to find some spring steel for months and no luck yet, the only people i know who supply it are these but they're prices were way over my budget

have bits and pieces of spring in my work shop, can you give a better idea of what your looking for.

its just like boxsection or tube but made of coiled spring steellike a steel wire liner but not as bendy

hmm, any chance of a pic or a drawing, i make up different types of springs but i cant understand what kind you are on about.

I am one of three people in the world that produce V springs the traditional way, though do easier stuff as well.
3/8" sq compression spring whats that going to support 1/2 tonne?

You sure you need 10mm Scott? my bouncer is only about 5 or 6mm from memory.
I have seen a p magnet made from two sections of fishing rod - worked really well as the rod flexes as it spins so the pigeons rise and fall. To be honest, with the prices of bought magnets well under the £100 mark, it's probably cheaper to buy one - not as much fun though

I was told at one time 4130 steel magnetizes well.
Don't know if it needs heat treated or not.
Never tried it myself.

ive made a couple in the past. think i might just buy one. ive got 3 motors and 2 frames made up but no spring steel for the arms. bugger
