As I'm only doing a few bits on the Land Rover and any other wee jobs I don't really want to get into renting a bottle. A local industrial supplier suggested this.
It's an 11 ltr cylinder, Albee, for £145.

I just need to convince the wife that it's cheaper than disposable ones. Can I out how much is in this cylinder ?

It is cheaper than disposables as you "own" the bottle so refills are on exchange. Not sure how much of the money you would get back if you sold the bottle back? Another plus is the regulator is built in on those bottle so that £50 saved if your comparing to other deposit bottles

I don't see one for £145 on that page.

If it's 200 bar then you get 200 x 11 = 2200 litres at atmospheric pressure.

Refills are £46, strange that they have "new" bottles in stock but no refills, as a refill is usually an exchange bottle.

I have been the albee bottle route... too expensive.
I now go for the larger bottle from my local motor factor who distribute soutwest gas supplies gas. The other option was adams gas but too far away for me in terms of practicality.

Back home now on the desktop PC, was using the phone on a car park in Inverness.

Anyways. They have a deal on now where the bottles are £145 and the refill is £38.
Seems no bad to me. They only had pure argon in and are getting CO2 and Mix bottles on Monday.
Some quick math indicates that they are WAY cheaper than my disposables.

£13 for 60 litres v £145 for 2200
22p/litre v 7p/litre initially then refills £38/2200 = 2p/litre


...waits for maths to be corrected ...

Disposables are going to be much more expensive than anything else, not only for the gas but the fetching and carrying too.

There might be cheaper rent free options down country but I bet there isn't that many in the highlands!

Well those disposables didn't last long !
Got a bit of welding with the CO2 one but the Argon mix one was definatley less than ten minutes, I don't think there was much in it to start with !

The Argon was very different from the CO2, it sounded different and seemed to sink in more. Running out just produced a pile of snotters !

Should be getting a delivery of a proper bottle tomorrow so can get back on the job on Wednesday, weather permitting.
