i need to get my project shell painted but most places won't take it as it's not rolling! i thought about putting the rear beam and front struts back on etc but everything is in bits being rebuilt... there was only one solution - a trolley of some sort!
i got hold of some 3mm 25mm shs and some 3mm plate (bargain from behind a guillotine of a local fab shop) and made a start. i haven't got any close ups of the welds unfortunately and it's not finished yet... the basic structure is done but the fixing points for the shell arn't done.
the castors are probably not really up to the task but they were free and it's only got to last a week or so under load! was thinking adding some extra bracing but it's surprisingly sturdy as it is with the corner gussets.
i attend a welding class one evening per week but i find it quite monotonous, it's so much more fun and rewarding actually having something made in front of you at the end instead of just ending up with small bits of scrap welded together!
my first experience of mig welding in a slight breeze
anyway, here's some pics ill put some more up when it's finished and got the shell on it! i'm out tomorrow though for the rugby and don't think i'll feel like welding on sunday
