Only just tacked together atm & a long way off, But look forward to getting this completed!
If possible, a few question:
- What is a "MX"?
Motocross
- Do you plan to move it up and down:
> by hand
> with something electric
> with something pneumatic
> with something hydraulic ?
I have a bottle jack I plan to use!
Are they 50 x50 square tubing?
25 x 25
Keep the photo coming!
Don't worry, Plenty more to come!

Already got tubes welded into the box sectionIf it were me I’d weld in tubes where the bolt goes through the centre of the cross. This way you are not relying on the small cross section of the tube wall to support all the weight.

The picture doesn't really show it, So I understand why you mentioned it!Nice job.
I could buy one! But where's the fun in that?I’ll follow with interest. I keep thinking about building a scissor lift cart/table.
The base will be wider. If you look at pictures of scissor lifts for MX bikes on google images you will get the idea of what sort of direction I'm planning on going..Looks good. Going to be a pretty high lift, if the scale of the drill press is anything to go by. You've got a pretty high structure on a fairly narrow base, especially if you're putting a 100+kg mx bike on top. What have you got in mind for the base, for the stability.
Bottle Jack! That's awesome. How is it going to be powered? Hydraulic or screw thread.
With the cost of materials & time spent its probably cheaper to buy a pre-fabricated lift. But its enjoyable building it!The base design is really nice. Look forward to seeing it finished. I'm thinking i should build one now.
