Looking at purchasing a new welder in the next few months and am keen to get into TIG. Had looked over various units and on recommendation from various threads on here had my eyes set on the thermal arcmaster 202. However as my current mig welder is a cheap unit (wolfmig) I’ve been considering picking up a multi process machine instead.
I’ll mainly be using the welder to prepare/maintain my race car. So typically bodywork, roll cage, suspension, exhausts etc. Although I will likely need aluminium capability for manifolds. That leaves me requiring an ac/dc TIG as a minimum.
Now the question I have is which multi process machine on the market would be suitable for my needs assuming an approx £1200 budget? There’s very little machines with HF TIG capability but a few with lift start. Would this be suitable for aluminium? Or should I just bin off the multi process idea, stick with the dedicated TIG and use my other unit for any mig work I need doing?
