Hello everyone
Unrelated to welding I know, but just wondered if anyone on here could help
I have an old John Deere rx75 mower which won't start. A friend bought it second hand, it ran for a bit then stopped so he gave it to me for free
I bought a new ignition coil for it, which sorted the spark problem but now it won't run. Sometimes it spews smoke out the exhaust but doesn't sound like it's trying to fire much. I pulled the spark plug just now and it looks wet, but still has a really strong spark. Any ideas what it could be? There's two things I think it could be:
1) spark plug not firing when it's in the block, which would explain why it's wet - but what would cause this if it's firing well when it's pulled?
2) carb not giving engine enough fuel - but then how could I test this? Also why would the plug be wet? And what would have changed in the carb since it was running fine for my mate? Only thing that's changed is the coil
I don't think either of these explanations are very likely, but I can't think of anything else, can anyone else think of anything?
