Picked up two nearly-free Craftsman riding mowers (38" cut, 12HP.) One with blown engine and another with a busted tranny. So swap good/bad and have one good one.
I have a huge pile of leaves that have been sitting for 2 years. Now have big pile of black dirt, perfect to soften up and replenish the lawn. Will need something to haul up the hill. Don't want to push a wheelbarrow.
Sticking with a "no budget" theme. I decided to build a small trailer/cart for the mower. I have some heavy duty 18x36" shelves and brackets sitting around, some mower parts and some extra square and angle steel. So, total cost $0
Here's the base:
One of the welds:
Still trying to figure out how to set up this Miller. Have 8 current slope settings and 8 inductance settings. With infinite voltage and wire speed, I don't have a concrete Volt/speed that I can easily relate to. I had the Clarke down; setting 1, wire 2-3; setting 4 wire 6-7. Was at the point I could set it up just right every time with no "tweaking"
This will take a while to get down. Will build table: 0.030 wire Volt 18V, wire speed 3-4 and so on for common settings.
By the time I get the settings tuned in, I'm done welding one area and need to set up slightly different for the next
As is, the Miller seems very sensitive to stickout; especially with 0.6mm wire. I think I need to reduce the current slope.
Will post more pics as it comes along. Bed is 3' square and will have 18" sides. Base still needs diagonal bracing and the bar to connect to the mower.
