I may soon be swapping my Super 7 lathe for a Boxford 11-30 Industrial lathe. Moving the Myford is easy with a couple of extra hands, but if i get the Boxford I will need to unload it from the trailer and get it into position.
I think it weighs about 400kg. I have no lifting equipment but may be able to borrow slings and a chain block, and ideally I don't want to pay for rent of an engine hoist. I've thought about getting some rsj and welding a frame together but obviously Id have to pay for the rsj. How would you guys do it on a budget? The garage door opening is about 2m high so a forklift/digger/tractor wouldn't fit in to make the job easy.
Anyone got any tips or done it before without hiring expensive gear?
