I'd like the advice of the forum with a motorcycle cylinder barrel - it's from a Ducati ST4s if that helps.
I've just had the bores replated with Nikasil as they were scored, but as I've received them back there appears to be a small amount of corrosion on one of the head gasket faces that's been removed by the cleaning/preparation process.
It's close to the bore surface so am worried about heat from welding affecting the plating.
The head gasket is a multi-layer-steel type, I think the pitting is in an area where the fire ring of the gasket sits.
I'm assuming that welding would be the best way of fixing this, but would any of the epoxy-type products (Belzona, Devcon, etc) stand a chance of working?
Failing that would anyone be able to help with filling my 'ole with weld so I can dress it back?
