Hey I’m a dumbass stick welder who is looking to get a modern version arc welder with more gimmicks and features, and I need some help to debunk a theory I have before I spend more than I should. I end up using a factory’s MMA/TIG over the shoulder welder that cost say 500gbp and that thing didn’t care if the rod had slag, if the bead had slag/rust and it felt like I was fighting in star wars. It takes a meter away arc length before it lets go and stops welding. One of the idiots over there kept repeating it’s TIG over and over, which I believe it’s irrelevant. My theory is that I experienced features such as Hot Start, Anti Stick, and Arc Force which are available on most new Chinese IGBT inverter welder. Or is it true that I need to aim for a MMA/TIG combo with AC/DC, pulse that has extra circuit boards like Geforce 3080 RTX, can mine bitcoin and go on the internet, which is what gives the edge over just MMA with those 3 features I listed? I don’t mind buying a TIG/MMA 2 in 1 version if it does give a bit extra, since I’m looking to try TIG in the near future but I need answer to my question.
In short: Does a TIG welder contributes anything towards the MMA process?
