Hi I bought this car in January this year as a long term project, the previous owner had carried out most of the modifications but I'm not too happy with the work so am re-doing most of it to a better standard. gorgeous, ive been wanting one for aslong as i can remember! only another 2 years saving and ill get my hands on one! as said, what lumps going in? and what spec? forest or tarmac? looking forward to the progress of this!
I'd like to think I'll get a BDA but as it's out of my budget It'll probably be a 2Ltr pinto, all steel and looking at at least 200 BHP.
I'll be building it for the forests, and Historic spec so a Pinto is my only budget choice at the moment but I'll be building it myself so all steel., dry sumped etc. This is a long term project and I want to fit the best parts I can afford, fully floating atlas axle, big four pot brakes, gartrac suspension and as much carbon fibre I can find!!!!
can you upload the photo's into the forum useing the attach photo tool as imageshack will move the photo's in couple of months and all the links will brake!
I have an account with Imageshack so the photos shouldn't dissapear but I will use the attachment just incase.
thats great. there is a few posts on here which had great info and photo's but the photo's have disapered leaveing the post worhtless. nice work and i look forwards to seeing more
great car, Your only just down the raod from me too here is a link to mine on Turbosport http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?84754-New-project-MK-flip-front-XPack-RS2
I thought I was hard done by having to work in a single garage attached to the house, but outside, in WALES, brave man!!
Looks like you have to registered and logged into Turbosport to view that thread and photos On the plus side there should be plenty of decent roads and forest tracks to enjoy the Escort after it is finished, so maybe Wales isn't such a bad place.
dave vizard did a pinto in car and car conversions back in the 78-80. was very good figures. i built one using his article, and it was fast.
Burn't out my Black & Decker grinder last week so just bought a Dewalt. While I'm waiting for a new lower radiator crossmember I had a go at repairing the scuttle panel as they are difficult to find as a replacement. Just needs a skim of filler to finish after it's plug welded to the car.
Love the old Escorts, had a mk1 mexico 20 years ago and loved it. http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=3;t=46169 thats a thread to go through for inspiration if you get bored anytime
Thank's for the link, what a perfectionist!!!!! hope mine will be half as good as that, given me plenty of ideas and things to copy.
