Mitre Saw

Im sure I have read about people converting the Mitre Saw to cut steel.

Now these Mitre Saw's you can buy have a 600mm blade, sure Hacksaws are 300mm.

So how are they converted?
How accurate are they, as in does the blade flex much?
Any pics of converted ones?

Just thinking of a cheap way of cutting steel cones as I dont have a chop saw or anything great for cutting (well apart from my angle grinder)

You can get power hacksaw blades up to 21" long,about £20 a pop.
Think they only go up to 10 TPI.

Can you not use a hacksaw in a mitre block? Gonna take some sawing

you could just use yor angle grinder and follow the line or get a holder thingy

Cheapest chop saws are around 35 quid. Just save for that.

Sure its just a case of substituting original for a metal cutting blade.
Set up for wood at moment so havent tried.

Its only thin wall, easy to cut with hacksaws, wanna try cutting tool and spring steels with mill scale on then filing to shape.

Evolution do a range of mitre saws that cut metal it appears all down to the TCT blade and the slower RPM of the machine around RPM3000

maybe buy the blade and modify a cheap saw? whats the difference??

I've got one of these. It's teh bomb only used it for hobby work, it can cut at a slight angle esp. if you're too quick pulling the blade down, but it's cut through everything I've thrown at it - box section steel mostly, but it made it's way through a piece of 2" solild bar as well!

I just got the rage 3-2 sliding mitre saw on a screwfix offer
It an amazing piece of kit
cuts fast clean without sparks and work piece remains cool
I am well pleased with myself
