Hi guys - firstly want to say thank you to everyone who has already helped me on this site
My plan - to remove minibus windows and weld sheet metal in place - possibly zintec - what are your thoughts on this?
I know that an Argon/CO2 mix is the best shielding gas but for the project i have it didnt seem financially doable so i have opted for 100% CO2
would i be best to overlap the sheet metal onto the existing frame as there is a 2/3 inch radius around each window. Or would i be best to cut a piece to the size of the window cut out and butt weld it?
I will either get 0.9 or 1.2 sheet metal with 0.6 mig wire. Is that a good match?
im guessing the lower the setting the better due to the thin material.
i do have some rust holes in the van too so will start with these and work my way up.
what do you guys think of this? From trawling online i cant see anybody else that has attempted it and a couple of welders have told me not to attempt this. The inside will be fully covered so not worried too much about looks and if the outside is messy i will try and get is as smooth as possible and then apply a vinyl wrap to cover the impurities.
any advice on this or questions you think i have missed i would really appreciate hearing what you guys have to say
