MIG welding amps vs mm material chart?

Does anyone have a link to a calculator or chart which shows an approximation of amps required for short circuit MIG for various material thicknesses please?

I could do with a cheat sheet on amps per mm of mild steel, and also something to suggest what sort of welding machine capability I'd need to weld thicker materials, say 5-10mm to thinner materials; mostly 2-3mm.

Any tips and advice appreciated, thanks all.

The quick guide that I remember is "40A per mm".

That's easier than trying to remember a chart, to get a ballpark estimate at least.

Would that be for solid core MIG, as opposed to FCAW, etc?

Yes, solid steel wire with inert gas shielding.
