I know that AC is required to TIG weld aluminium due to the oxide layer e.g. reverse wave to blast the oxide layer, forwards to melt & so on - or which ever way round it is :-) and I'm not challenging the standard ways of doing things (I don't want this to turn into a TIG/MIG debate!!)
The question is:- Why is the oxide layer not an issue when using MIG to weld aluminium?
Thanks!
