Mig problems ?

Me again as you can see I have been trying my hand at a bit of mig welding but my mig is not wanting to play ball. I am new to welding so what I done today was go to a friends work place where they make allsorts of ironwork and asked if I could just try one of there migs to establish if the problem Im have is me or my machine? I tried his mig and got it to work first go so I belive the problem now lies with my mig ? I made a few phone calls to a place that fixes migs and sent them a couple of pictures ofmy mig which they think is an sip machine. I told them that the mig strikes up then seens to loose power they have suggested that it might be a diode gone open ? where is this part located ? on my mig I have stripped it down and found a name of the makers nane of Sepri if that helps

Check the connection of the torch just inside the unit. Apparently, the torch power lead is easily pulled loose as it is just a snug fit over the terminal..

The diodes will be on a aluminum plate.

Found the problem turned out to be the contactor was breaking down under load so now its time to try some welding

Hi,

if it is a SIP then have a look around the site here. I believe there are some tutorials showing common problems and what you can do to improve the welder.
