The light and laser guide have stopped working at the same time on our Metabo KGS 254 saw.
Motor still works.
Just hoping someone's heard of this before and knows where/what to look for...
Although maybe just coincidence but had a few power cuts the past few days. Hopefully a fuse but no time to be taking it apart just to investigate the now....seems a bit unlikely a fuse would be inside the 'handle'. Maybe a voltage dropper or something has popped
Did you find any sotlution? I got the same problem on a brand new Metabo 254. Laser and light suddently turn off 1sec then slightly went back before stopping for good...! Feeling frustated to send it back straight away..!
"Bright LED work light for illumination of the cutting line (mains powered, no batteries required)"
That corresponds to the circuit diagram in post #6, which shows a mains transformer and rectifier running the LED and the laser, via two separate switches.
If both light sources are off, then either the transformer or the rectifier has failed. As the saw is new, I'd return it for replacement.
when it first started it was the switches clogging up with dust then cleaning them didn't work so I took it apart went over it with voltmeter to find out the transformer had died
