Hi folks, in respect to other threads that run on the forum, i would like to do a review on my makita biscuit jointer, its a 9031 model and its over 21 years old. Gues what, its done a far bit of work since i have it and im sure apart from a set of brushes and a new blade it wont need much doing to it either for the next 20 years! I had a cheap erbauer biscuit jointer which i bought from screwfix a while ago and the biscuits slots on that were wonky... It went back to the shop for a refund... I then spent the money on a dewalt biscuit jointer and i left it at a mates house after i fitted a kitchen, i am trying to get it back after we fell over on business!
As per forum rules, please state why you love cheap tools and why you would buy dependable tools to do your trade, i have many, many tools: metabo table saw, milwaukee drils and rip saw, elektra beckum chop saws, dewalt planer, hitachi 3" planer, makita oscilating tool, ryobi industrial router and orbital sander, makita rouyer and orbital sander, milwaukee big breaker, makita large breaker, large tile cuters, makita and bosch grinders, etc.
Theres also a reason why i bought marples chisels and not wickes own brand even though on price they seem attractive!
At the garage o have mainly snap on gear, blue point and halfords professional spanners... The clarke warrior compressor 110v i bought 10 years ago has given up the gosth but the abac one i have is happily chugging along and gets used daily!
The same reason i favour a starrett or mitutoyo vernier calliper to a yato one, i know it will give repetitive results for years after i pass out!
I think there is a place for cheap tools- straight in the bin, few people pay on quality that defies belief and chinese manufacturers have caught on this!
