Probably a very simple one this for those with the experience and knowledge.
I need to machine 3/4" round bar with 2 opposing flats to fit into a DD steering u joint.
How can i machine the 2 flats on the bar?
I have a lathe but no milling machine, i was thinking can i use a milling bit in the 3 jaw chuck and clamp the bar to the tool post somehow?? Or is that possibly the most stupid idea on here so far?
I know i could get someone to do this but you know whats it like when you want to complete the whole job yourself.
Alternatively anyone got a cheap (like £200!!) milling machine they want to sell?
Any advice appreciated.
