Lost my fav Spanner can you help?

Have searched work for a week now and can't find my favourite spanner which I've had for over 10 years

Been searching the net but can't find a similar item, it was a chrome Sykes Pickavant double ring spanner with swan necks in 3/4 and 11/16. Can anyone point me in the direction to purchase one? It was get as it doubles up as a 17mm/19mm spanner, really lost without it.

They usually have a wide range....

I don't buy into the SnapOn nonsense, prefer Britool (no, not the Chinese ripoff stuff, watch out for it on Ebay)... and still have some fine Gordons stuff I got for my 17th birthday a few decades ago
If it's properly made (and properly used ) you won't break it so you won't be needing the 'lifetime warranty' which, let's face it, is all you get from SnapOff.
Shame so little of anything is properly made these days...

I bought the Sykes Pickavant spanner at the NAC kit car show years ago 5 or £5, it wasn't even me who lost it a young lad at work took it out of my tool bag

Ive got an adjustable of that brand, years old and stood up to loads of abuse.

My first set of metric and whitworth spanners as an apprentice were king dick,double open enders, 26 years on still good but tend to use combi ring and open enders now....kit seems to get lost/stolen rather than broken in factories

Yes, I have a couple. My father had quite a few until some thieving scrotes ransacked his garage a few years back. He ran a car repair business in the 70s/ early 80s when tools were still rather more 'craftsman' than the disposable DIY crap most of them have become. My mother would buy him tools for xmas; I recall him getting a DeVilbiss air compressor which must have cost as much as a family holiday back then! I guess I'll inherit it one day...

I visited one of our suppliers a few years back. One of the staff had had an entire toolkit stolen from his locker. He'd posted a notice on the staff board that said words to the effect of 'whoever took them was not a craftsman, as a craftsman would never steal another's tools'.

That said, tools found in obscure concealed places, probably years after they were lost, are fair game. I was talking to a guy at BAE in Barrow; his brother worked at Millom at a scrapyard that dismantles ships. They were cutting up an ex-Navy frigate and found an arc welder (the equipment, not the man!) sealed up in a compartment
Not quite on the same scale but I once squeezed myself into a tight space in a cabinet and sat down hard on the pointy end of a long Philips screwdriver that had become wedged in behind a scissor-table. Once the pain had subsided I claimed the offending tool...

I remember my dad had a King Dick adjustable spanner about 50 years ago. Even to a nine-year old it seemed well made!

My King Dick's are 20+yrs old and take all sorts of abuse - recommended. Britool and Gordon are excellent too, though the chrome is coming off mine .

As always with specific request, it's always good to contact them rather than just view a web site. (Do you have, can you create, a picture of a spanner in the style you want?).
TBH, I'm not sure what is special about a 3/4 & 11/16 double ring spanner, perhaps it's the style of the swan necks on your SP version. Some swan necks are graceful curves, others are more abrupt. 6 point or 12 point might be more critical, especially if you are using it as a Metric spanner.

Theres a guy on our local market that has a trailer full of old spanners, I'll look out for one. SP Double ring 3/4 and 11/16 AF?

I use Stahl Whille. Much thinner and lighter then snap on, which indicates higher quality metal. Plus they do special aircraft tools which snap on don't.

King Dick are very good spanners. Expensive to buy new but i often buy one or two at the second hand market.

Ratty: nice to see you own Whitworth spanners. I was glad of my own old Whitworth and BSF set when i got an old british Car (1968) this summer. Some of my cars nuts & bolts seem to be strange sizes that you dont see these days, such as,
1 and a 1/16 of an inch 0r 19/32

Oh I've got a weird old collection of spanners collected since I was old enough to hold them - the same with nut's and bolts. I got boxes and boxes of nuts, bolts, machine screws, socket nuts and odd things - that I have no name for - from a railway depot in MK some years ago. They were ditching palette loads of obsolete fittings when I was on the scrounge for a sculpture workshop I was doing with school kids. That was 10 years ago and I'm still using them. If anyone needs some odd size I'm worth an ask (if I can understand the question )
