Mild gloating, but also looking for advice on potential issues to keep an eye out for and also for any potential upgrades it’s worth investing in!
Bought myself one of these the other day. Bit of a risky one as it was untested, though the fella came across as dead genuine - it was sat in a storage unit and he’s now a euro-based truck driver so never gets a chance to use it.
I’ve bought it mostly for automotive repairs after the trusty GYS Smartmig at my garage blew up when some dingus decided to try welding 8mm plate in 300mm runs... (don’t even ask, I was furious when I found out...)
Machine is in spanking nick, and was up for £500 - managed to talk him down to £350 as it was untested and therefore a bit of a risk... though he did offer to take it back if I found it wasn’t working!
Connected a 13A RCD plug (blown too many fuses in the past haha!!) and plugged it in, started up first time and sounds solid. Added a roll of wire and plugged on the as-new torch, pulled the trigger and.... nowt. Motor spinning but wire not moving.
Turned out the small key in the shaft for the roller was missing so I fashioned one out of a bit of scrap and that was her good to go!
Managed a load of overhead with her, (arches on a van) and a lot of buttwelds, used it for about 6 hours and never once skipped a beat.
Best part is I nearly bit the bullet a couple of days before and bought a ropey SIP for £80 hahaha
