Just picked up my new lathe, Smart and Brown 1024 MK2.
I'm running through options for powering it, easy option, but noisy and more expensive is obviously a rotary converter, the other option is 2 X vfd's and convert the suds to 240v. The main motor is fixed speed, but runs the spindle via an adjustable pulley, controlled by a smaller motor. So, main motor on vfd with soft start and braking, with just forward / reverse. The variable pulley motor would just run on the second vfd via its jog function.
I know the motor will go to delta, but what's throwing me is a little circuit in its wiring box. There are a couple of diodes in there and a tag saying DC link. I've been researching, but can only seem that find complicated electrical stuff which my tiny brain can't compute.
Can someone enlighten me as to its function please, can this be removed?
