If I had to keep a lathe outside at the very least I would bury it in grease and put a good tarpaulin over it!
That’s a heavy machine to be lifting by the spindle.
Well this one may beat all of your offerings...This has been on for literally months and months it could even be a year now... It makes me smile so much.... I'm still trying to work out what exactly has happened.. its not a lot of money but.....

Where is the rest of the machine?
Talking of which my Colchester Triumph roundhead was lifted the same way - after I went to the trouble of making a lifting plate/eye. Not happy to say the least. Do you think it will be ok? Many people say yes - spins freely by hand but not powered it up yet - only had it for 20 years! Will be running by the summer now - cleared up a heck of a lot.
Makes me laugh when people say a Colchester Triumph is small but I know what you mean!I don't think its the end of the world on small general engineering lathes.
If it's something using super precision bearings of weighs multiple tonnes then it's probably fine.
Not at all - I actually have a capstan for a lathe in my warehouse - no idea what it is off haven't looked that closely.
Here's a one that's been on a few times, nothing seems to work.
