Hi Guys,
Has anyone converted a 3ph lathe to single phase and have any recommendations?
My lathe is a Harrison M300 with a digital readout and I'm considering converting it two ways. The first is to use this guide:http://home.btconnect.com/astronoscope/Articles/M300-v2.html or the more expensive way is to use a larger 240v 1ph to 415v 3ph inverter and a sine wave filter and therefore have 3ph power available for the whole workshop like this one: http://www.invertersdirect.co.uk/Pr...-3-PHASE-DIGITAL-PLUG-PLAY-CONVERTER-INVERTER My lathe is 3hp so the 7.5hp plus 150% overload capacity should be fine for starting loads I assume?
Currently I only have my lathe but I'd like to get a small milling machine and maybe some metal shaping equipment in the future so I'm wondering if it's worth the expense of doing the whole workshop or just do it machine by machine when I get them?
Any other suggestions or ways to do it? I'd rather not fork out and do the whole workshop but I get the feeling that it's the smart thing to do if not the cheap option.
