After looking at one of John @doubleboost videos, and seeing how he had a spring loaded centre finder inserted into his tailstock and clocked the four jaw in with two chuck keys, I thought I would obtain one similar.
Myford/RDG have one similar, but at a price, 34 quid and its mt2. I could use a sleeve or two but I have a nice length of circa 10mm rod out of an old A3 inkjet printer, so its about 500mm long so I'm thinking of making one. I saved if for aligning the tailstock.
I haven't got a design in mind yet, some kind of point at one end, from memory the rod has a thread at least at one end if not both. At the other, something to get it to MT4. I guess a bit of spring loading/flexibility is needed between the two to allow it to wobble a bit and take up the slack.
Anybody made one already?
MT4 10mm collets are around 20 quid so that could be that end sorted. I need to measure the rod but I'm away at work at the moment.
