Does anyone know what grade is used by the laser cutting companies?
Got a batch of parts just come in and they weld like crap , even after removing the oxide layer.
Always customer specified with us did the parts need folding by supplier and did you specify it was to be weldable we’ve had problems with this in the past.
With Alu you need to give your supplier all details of processes you plan to use as depending on thickness and process materials are selected unless specified other wise by customer
Yes cianh91, some of the parts are folded also
I didn’t order the parts I’m just assembling them, for my sins .
Yes Brad your probably right, will know better next time before agreeing to do the job .
I was thinking that because some of the strips are only 50mm wide with 5mm holes down each edge then folded 90 degrees.how much heat does a laser create when cutting 3mm ally ?
Very little 3mm Alu can be took out with bare hands directly after cutting.
That could be your issue lots of crowds will cut from an easily foldable grade especially with 3mm or less as it’s easier cut with above 4mm you will go with an inbetween grade that is cut and fold friendly that’s why it’s so important to either specify the material you want or specify it’s to be welded.
Alu is a more awkward material to laser doesn’t cut like steel (mild or stainless)
