On with the saga that is owning a 4x4 and not having time to keep it off the road for long.
Admittedly, it usually does 40 miles a week once to the yard and once back. There has been the odd occasion recently where I’ve taken it to Scotland with a trailer and today to Leeds General.
On the trip to Scotland it blew a vacuum hose off causing the EML to come on until I sorted it in the nearest lay-by. However, for most of the journey North, it was decided that we’d have the 4wd light flashing, no noticeable drop in performance or weird noises. Once loaded, and travelling back there was no sign of the flashing light.
On my return home last night, while braking to get on to the drive, there was a noticeable audible clunk and the 4wd light started flashing.
Today, there was nothing until coming to a stand at Doncaster North roundabout, there was another audible clunk and the 4wd light started flashing again.
I’ll be able to check it again once we leave LGI.
Initial thoughts are a vacuum leak somewhere. Replacing the vacuum hoses is on my list of things to do, along with swapping the known working solenoids from the Pajero that’s going for scrap.
Anything else to consider?
