Hi guys. been lurking for a while but need some advice...
Iv had a kemppi mastertig for 3 months now and I could never get a good aluminium weld out of it. Its dull and full of black flakes. i tried messing with the balance settings, tried 3 different gas bottles... different rods and material to weld, regulators, torches etc.. and to cut a long story short I tried everything.
I also must note the welding tone in AC is alot different from the other kemppi tigs we have at work aswell. its sounds alot more fierce and hot. The man i purchased it off. got it from brand new, and its been sat in his garage for 5 years with a odd trip out on site to do a job. its never had the side off so what i discovered must of been like it from the factory.
Now, today i was holding the gas nozzle when i pulled the trigger and got a hell of a wollop. that wollop was 90+ volts on the multi meter.. I open up the case to see that there is no earth on the gas bits inside.
There is no earth cable floating about anywhere that i can see that should attach to it...
Also do you think this is why i jsut cant get a nice shiny aluminium weld out of it?
is there someone else here who could take a look inside their mastertig and see if theres a earth there?
thanks in advance....
tom.
