Hi guys and gals,
I'm pretty new to MIG welding, so that said, today I was creating a shape out of mild steel CR4 0.8mm. I need to go this thin to bend the sheet in to the shape. There were lengths where the weld was good, and after grinding down I could see the connection was solid, and others where I could immediately see holes during welding. These I often tried to do over, probably not to my benefit. The problem I guess is the sheet metal being so thin, but if I was to keep using this sheet, what are some suggestions based on these photos? Is there a proper way to fix these welds or do I need to start all over? I've seen videos where one welds short bursts, almost like tacking, all the way. I mainly ran straight or tried little loops as long as I could hear it sounded good... My MIG was down almost to minimum on power and feed.
Thanks for your help!
