Bosch hedge trimmer. It was cutting out but immediately restarting, so I assumed one of the micro-switches on the interlocks was at fault. Then it stopped.
Disassembled it and found the motor and gearbox turn freely.
There are no obvious loose connections.
There are no obvious burned wires.
Brushes all present and correct - indeed look barely worn.
But when energised it makes a 50Hz buzz and some visible smoke so switched off immediately. Stator (?) was hot to touch.
I have a simple multi meter so can check for continuity and 'measure' resistances, but I don't know where to stick the probes nor what any readings might mean.
