Short back story:
A flat that I own had a tenant who was with SSE. She left about a year ago and we refurbished the flat then re-let it. My agent employees an independent Check Out / Check In agency who takes photographs of the meters at these times. There was quite a long 'void' period while work was happening and I'm quite happy to pay for electricity used in this period.
For months my agent has been trying to get SSE to issue a correct bill, we have the dates, we have the readings, and we have evidence. Sporadically they send an amended bill but they are always incorrect in one aspect or another.
At this point it was escalated to me and I've spent literally hours speaking to their help desk (which is in Cape Town South Africa !!!!!!) and get good promises and no action. The latest iteration is one of their agents saying that if I email them a copy of the tenancy agreement as evidence they will amend the bill, BUT WON'T GIVE ME AN EMAIL ADDRESS to use.
This was too much so I decided to raise a formal complaint with their complaints department which has phone numbers (several) on their web site. All these numbers port to the same help desk . . . ARGH
So I'm at an impasse re the electricity bill - any one else having trouble with them ?
As an aside we had the same issue with the gas account which is also with SSE - eventually they sent a final demand (court action follows) but the amount was only 1/3rd of what I calculated it should be. Their agent got really agitated (same one who refused to give an email address) and insisted that their bill was correct - OK I said I'll pay it if you are so sure and close the account - so I did
But the electricity bill which stands at about five times what it should be remains unresolved
