It appears to be a slip clutch impact style tool, MT3 for a tail-stock (possibly), adjustable spring loading, but the business end has a fixed keyway installed.
Stamped on the tool is:
Size Tapper
Apearns patent
Herbert Hunt & Sons Ltd
Manchester
Sole Makers.
I've tried seaching the interweb but there doesn't seem to be a definite answer, so I've turned to the amassed knowledge of the members here...
Has anyone seen one, used, or have ideas of what its for and what fits in the end with the key-way?
