ok so i finely got myself a hypertherm 45xp
been on my "to get list" for a long time
thanks so much to mattH. top man..
i have some questions etc and i dont want to pester mattH due to his current circumstances.
so i thought il post this and see if any other members that has/had hypertherm cutter and a cnc table could help..
ok i haven't tested this cutter yet as it came with a cnc torch.
and from my understanding about cnc machines.
it lowers the torch and touches the material then raises the torch slightly off the material then switches on and cuts..
so the torch is never touching the material you cut.
with a hand torch without a guide or stand off your not going to be able to maintain that little gap by hand.
so you can get drag nozzles for the hand torch. so i assume these are the type of consumables il need ....
so i dont want to try this cutter out using the machine torch and be dragging it across steel, incase it damages it....
so it will have to wait till i can get a hand torch in a few weeks. haven't found one used yet in the uk.
a few on eBay but are in the usa. would rather not go down that route.
new torch so far is £390 delivered.
plus im also currently sorting out my larger comp, so have no air atm anyways.
as i dont think the small comp could supply what this would need.
on to CNC...
for a long time ive always fancied making a cnc table.
and now i have a good cutter and also the machine torch too
its a possible project for down the line.
but the issue i think i will have due to my short term memory loss.
is using all the different types of software needed.
and trying to remember what to do in them.
so before i give up on a cnc ideal and get rid of the machine torch.
i was wondering if anyone that dabbles in CNC, could list all the software programs needed and knows of any good videos to watch.
i did look on YT and searched, watch a few vid's, but still not 100% on what's needed.
so i can see what's needed to be used and if i can cope with using the software or if im just wasting my time trying to.
cheers all
