So I'm practicing on making piece 2 seen below the goal was to figure out how to form the two raised areas and I got there "kinda". This is my first time at anything like this and I've very little experience with metalworking and have pent everything by hand with a vice and a hammer.
The end result came out okay and the holes are exactly where they need to be for the repair job so while it may not be the sexiest piece but a starting point in my journey.
I had a few attempts and starting from the right side of the above image where the spot welds were drilled out I had to stop and ended up scrapping the entire piece.
The reason was that the piece I was making kept curving and over the entire length of the piece it was off by quite a bit due to the curvature of the top red line.
What can I do to stop this from happening OR how do I account for this when making a piece?
Below you can see Vs the straight edge of a desk how much it curves
