When welding, I occasionally get excessive amounts of welding spatter. Small round objects that might stick to whatever I'm welding or to the welding table. They are completely normal, but sometimes (depending on welder configuration) there's a whole lot more than what you'd expect. They're annoying 'cause they ruin my work suits. Is there any theory about this? What's the most common reason? If it's relevant I'm MIG-welding with compact wire (won't leave slag) at roughly 25 volts on construction steel. The shielding gas is 92% Argon and 8% CO2.
