Not sure if I should post in this section or the paint one, but Ive bought a couple of spray guns HVLP to which ive never used before so I take it that I will need a larger bore rubber hose than my 8mm one that I used for my old jga, what do you lads use.
I changed to a 10mm pipe today but not much difference I have to open the regulator to 75 psi or so to allow 30 psi to run through the gun, I think I might need a regulator on the gun itself so as to not have such spikes in pressure when triggering. the pipe length ive got at the moment is about 15m.
i'm beeting you used what fittings you had to hand.
change to n3/8" vertex fittings and all will be ok
dont put a reg. on gun,its just another restriction your adding.
Yep jay, 1/4", was thinking that, I put a T pice with a gauge on to try and make shure I had 2bar at the gun, have been looking at the sata, Iwata, DeVilbis sites, they put a regulator at the gun to set pressure. wouldent a reg there stop the forty or so psi rushing through when you triger the gun after moving from one pannel to the next if you know what I mean, Thanks for your input.
I was led to believe that you put a regulator/gauge on the end of the gun, set the pressure, then mark it on the gauge on the tank/wall as a reference and remove the reg/gauge from the gun so there is less restriction.
I'm very possibly wrong though!
Thats what I was doing but like Jay says I will need 3/8 fittings, I just felt when I triggerd the gun away from the panel of course,I was getting quite a blast of pressure out before settling down to trigger for paint and was wondering if the reg on the gun would stop this and I could get a smoother air flow??, as well I'm thinking not wasting air.
when i was forced to go hvlp ,used sata and had reg that was used by hand held on to the aircap.opened trigger and took a reading.
hvlp uses a lot of air.so you need a big supply of air.
most people me included over drive hvlp guns to get what you want from them. you said you had a JGA ,my fav gun and you would'nt get mine off me
for all the tea in china.
My jga is fitted to a pressure pot which Ive used for doing mainly vans and its great but only want to do a couple of doors and wheel arch so after a chat with the Iwata rep he recommended a cheapish AZ3 HTE2 as I don't do much it would last a long time, Its also pearl and clear which is a first for me that one doesn't have the regulator on the gun so will probably have to spend a few bob next wk.
Cost me £150 for the nozzle needle and cap for the JGA last time. I take it you just dont like the HVLP guns jay, what about the paint savings your supposed to be getting with them whats your take on that claim, but like you say most people over drive them so the advantage is lost I suppose ?
i done care one way or the other, about hvlp.
but there is not many guns that match a jga in the right hands.
personnally i've not notice a paint saving,as you say it's lost,if any,over driving gun.
and i do doorshut with my gun.
your setup would not be right at the moment.
but the choice is yours.
