Hi Everyone,
I thought I'd better pop my head up and say hello.
Been lurking aorund the site for a while - loads of good info.
Got myself a Clarke 160TE (from Weldequip - top man).
All set up with Arogoshield light and practicing on 1.2mm sheet before welding up the wife's Discovery floor, sills, inner wings, etc, etc.
I was practicing all day Sat - about 8 hours ! Kind of addictive trying to get those welds just right.
Seem welds and spot welds are looking good now flat on the bench. Might take a bit more practice for the positional stuff though. Butt welds look like I need a power setting below MIN ! I think more time preparing the edges so there's no big gaps would help a lot too.
The only consistient problem I have at the moment is the first second or two when starting a bead the arc splutters and spits. Once it's going nice and smooth, constant sizzle. Just makes the start a bit messy.
No doubt I'll be back with lots of questions and looking for help.
Cheers,
Paul
