Up until today i was practicing on 1mm steel. At first i was having trouble getting any penitration but now am happy with what im doing and dare say am(was
) feeling pretty good about starting on the car soon.
But!
Today i cut a piece of metal from the car and its alot thinner then the 1mm i've been practicing with. 0.8 or maybe even 0.6(if they use that thin for cars) I tryed to weld it and just burned holes! I turned the settings to lowest but still no good. im using a clarke 130en with 0.6 wire speed 4 and a dissposable gas can. Now i asume that the lowest power setting is what i need and that my machice can weld stuff that thin so it must be my technique. I was originally intending to use the 1mm steel to patch the car but now want to use the same thickness and only start on the car when i've mastered 0.8mm.
Can anyone sugest where to get 0.8mm steel from as i couldnt find any at my local b & q.
Any advice with the thin stuff will be put to good use in practice hours and appreciated very much.

P.S. When i was strugling with penetration a proper gas regulator/bottle was sugested to give me more control of gas flow. Would this also help with blowing holes?
